Kenneth “Kenny” Darby October 16, 1982 – December 23, 2024 Kenneth “Kenny” Darby, of Gunnison, Colorado, and originally from Woodstock, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2024. Kenny was a father, partner, veteran, and friend whose vibrant personality, selfless heart, and adventurous spirit left an unforgettable mark on everyone he met.

Kenny’s greatest pride and joy were his children, Petra and Tripp. He and their mother, Molly Darby, worked together to raise them with love and care. He shared the end of his life with his loving girlfriend, Kayla Cacciatore, who brought him happiness, love, and unwavering support.

Kenny was the kind of person who could light up any room with his goofy humor and easy smile. He was adventurous and full of life, happiest when riding dirt bikes, and motorcycles, snowmobiling or simply embracing the outdoors. His love for motorcycles extended to the racetrack, where his racing number, “269”, symbolized his passion and drive. Kenny worked hard, played harder, and never hesitated to lend a hand. He was always there when you needed him- a loyal friend, partner, son, brother, and father.

Kenny wasn’t just family to those he was close to - he became family to so many others. He had a remarkable way of stepping into people’s lives at just the right moment, offering his love, support, and presence without hesitation. His kindness and generosity made people feel cared for in a way the was uniquely Kenny. To many, he was like a brother, a son or an uncle, someone they could always count on, and his impact on their lives was truly unforgettable.

As the founder of KD Custom Builders, Kenny turned his vision and hard work into a thriving business. He created a workplace where employees felt valued, and his clients trusted his honesty, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Many clients became more like family. For Kenny, building homes was more than just a career-it was a way to make a lasting impact on the community he cared for so deeply.

Kenny served in Iraq as an EMT stationed at the Presidential Palace in Baghdad. A veteran, Kenny, carried the values of honor and loyalty into every part of his life. He believed deeply in showing up for those who needed him, making people laugh, and creating a sense of belonging wherever he went. His humor, determination, and generosity were constants that brought light to those around him.

Kenny is survived by his loving partner Kayla Cacciatore; his two children, Petra and Tripp Darby, and their mother Molly Darby; his father Kenneth Darby and wife Donna Darby and stepsisters; his sister Sandra Darby and husband Michael Picard; his nieces Justice and Silver Picard; his sister Crystal Darby, her children; and his sister Sonya Darby and her daughter; as well as many other family members and friends.

Kenny’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless people he touched with his love and laughter. His life reminds us to cherish every moment, live boldly, and love deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, adventure, and an unshakable commitment to the people he loved.
